Lother Consulting is a small, independent operation run by Konrad Joe David Lother and Caroline Figueiredo Torres — life partners, business partners, and two people who believe that infrastructure should be calm, clear, and under control.

Konrad takes care of the technical side. He’s been working with Linux and BSD since the early 2000s and spent over 15 years in infrastructure, automation, and large-scale server operations. At corpex.de, he automated deployments for major clients like Burger King, ElitePartner, and Steinberg. At Novum-RGI GmbH, he created and managed the full CI/CD and development pipeline infrastructure on-premise — saving over 1.2 million euros in projected cloud costs while delivering better performance. He’s run clusters that had to stay online around the clock — and kept them that way. He believes in simplicity, transparency, and systems that run cleanly with minimal overhead.

Caroline handles the operational side. She keeps the projects organized and the communication steady. With a background in design, education, and international publishing, she manages everything from client coordination and invoicing to timelines and documentation. Her experience in editorial work, visual structure, and multilingual environments makes her the perfect counterweight to the engineering side of the business — and the reason nothing falls through the cracks. She brings calm to complexity and ensures every client always has someone to talk to.

We both left corporate structures behind — the noise, the meetings, the frantic cycles — to build something quieter and more meaningful. We value function over flash, ownership over automation hype, and long-term thinking over quick wins.

Cloud is marketed as simple. But behind the dashboards, it’s often bloated, expensive, and filled with shifting dependencies.
